1) Do home security systems prevent break-ins?
A basic burglar alarm system is designed to detect unauthorized access to your home. Once the system is triggered, a loud warning sound is produced and if your system includes 24-hour monitoring, a notification is sent to the monitoring center where someone contacts the authorities in your area. While having a security system may not eliminate break-ins altogether, it can go a long way to prevent and/or reduce their re-occurrence. 2) With so many home security systems available, what is the best one? The system you choose depends on many factors, and your Mid-Ohio representative will be happy to discuss these with you. Simply speaking, alarm systems come in two varieties, hardwired or wireless. With a hardwired system, the wiring is imbedded into the doors and window frames. Wireless systems work with batteries and can be accessed away from home via the internet or Smartphone. The choice you make will depend on many factors, some of which are: the construction of your home or apartment, the amount of amount of money you have to spend, and the level of security that meets you and your family’s needs. 3) Besides basic security systems, what additional options and services does Mid-Ohio offer? Mid Ohio also offers indoor/outdoor security cameras, carbon monoxide detectors, flood and smoke detectors, and medical alert features. 4) Will I own my system? Some companies merely rent or lease your system to you. With Mid-Ohio, once your system is installed, you own it. 5) What about my monitoring contract? Contract length and prices can vary. Some companies require 3-5 year commitments. At Mid-Ohio, contracts are annual and self-renewing, and we offer a variety of billing options as well. 6) Is my system expandable? Yes. If you decide to enhance your system, simply contact us and we will be happy to discuss the features you wish to add. For new construction, we provide prewiring, which saves you both time and money and helps you avoid costly renovations when you’re ready to upgrade. |
